Shola Shack Eco-stay

At Shola Shack Eco-stay, all you have to do is “nothing”. Just sit back, soak-in the wilderness and enjoy nature’s show. We have set our base, next to Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary, on a few acres of Shola grassland and a patch of Shola forest on rolling hills of the Western Ghats in Wayanad. Since we are located in a small patch of Shola forest adjoining Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary, we have numerous exotic birds visiting us.

A holiday that exposes the individual to a new way of thinking, a chance to appreciate the local flora and fauna and to be part of an experiment that redefines the meaning of a community living in harmony with nature. We have two treetop rooms Kabini and Kaveri which can house 6 pax and tents. We have mostly used IGBC-rated building materials and tried our best to keep our structure in sync with nature.

Rajesh M Kurpad is an Architectural Engineer from NIT Calicut, who is passionate about conservation and presently runs the eco-friendly resort “Shola Shack Eco-stay”. This venture is run on an experimental basis and since the feedback is good from our guests, could be a model for resorts and home-stays where the owners of such enterprises understand the importance of showcasing native flora and fauna rather than the manicured lawns and exotic plants.
